San Antonio Village

As an outreach, The Belize Project is involved in a small village on the outskirts of Corozal Town. This is a place where 325 people live, with over half the population are kids under 18 years old.

We have gotten involved with the school, provided books, spent time teaching, brought shampoo for the lice infestation, etc. We are getting to know the kids. We have offered scholarships for the 8th graders to be able to go to high school. We have done a feeding program where all the kids get a good meal each day. This may be for some their only meal.

We have built relationships with several families. We have started a micro enterprise and are chipping away at putting jobs in the community. As we keep going back, we learn and trust builds. We are having people step forward and say they will get involved long term.

This work is so discouraging and then so rewarding. God is working. The community is realizing they need a church. They are the only community in the country that we have found that doesn't have any church. The primary need in the village is spiritual. Please be praying that a church will be planted there. They want one. Come get involved. Adopt a family, adopt a child.

For a child to be able to learn, they must first be fed. Many kids come to school with no breakfast, and often, don't eat lunch. They don't have any food at home. We have begun programs is some schools to get them equipment for feeding, and funding for food. And we are getting the community to contribute. We want the kids fed, but we want it to be their project. Helping them get started is such an encouragement. And of course, the kids love it. We supply vitamins too. If you would like to adopt a school, or do part of that, the start up typically costs $500 and the monthly costs is $250 per school. (San Antonio Zion Park)
